Positive Introductions Exercise

The following is a key exercise from Positive Psychology (specifically: Rashid and Seligman 2018).  Remember to follow the writing guidelines.

Think of a time in your life when you were at your best. It should be a specific time/situation.  It doesn’t have to be an extraordinary, life-changing experience; it may just be an everyday situation that looked ordinary from the outside but had an effect on you.

Write that story down.  Include all the details, emotions, and images that come up.  Don’t worry about presenting yourself a certain way, just try to be as real and authentic as possible to the feelings you genuinely had in the situation.  Make sure to include positive feelings as well.

Take that story and fashion it into an introduction.  We live in a world where we introduce ourselves with our name and occupation.  If we lived in a world where we introduced ourselves with our name and the time in our lives when we were at our best, what would your introduction be?
